License.
OpenInsure is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BUSL-1.1).
What This Means
The source code is viewable, auditable, and forkable for non-production use. You can read every line of code that touches your policyholder data. No black boxes.
Production use of the software requires a valid commercial license from OpenInsure Inc. This ensures we can continue investing in the platform while giving you full transparency into what you're running.
Change Date
After the change date (defined in each source file header), the code converts automatically to an open-source license (Apache 2.0). This guarantees that even if OpenInsure ceases operations, the code becomes fully open.
Permitted Uses Without a License
- + Evaluation and testing in non-production environments
- + Academic research and educational purposes
- + Contributing patches and improvements back to the project
- + Security auditing and vulnerability research
Full License Text
The complete BUSL-1.1 license text is included in the LICENSE file at the root of the repository. Each source file contains a header specifying the licensor, change date, and change license.
